Basic knowledge of electric motor

Motor is a general term for electric motor and generators. It is usually divided into two categories: DC electric motor and AC electric motor. AC electric motor are divided into two categories: asynchronous electric motor and synchronous electric motor. Before modern electromagnetic motors, experimental motors that worked by electrostatic force were investigated. The first electric motors were simple electrostatic devices described in experiments by Scottish monk Andrew Gordon and American experimenter Benjamin Franklin in the 1740s. The theoretical principle behind them, Coulomb's law, was discovered but not published, by Henry Cavendish in 1771. This law was discovered independently by Charles-Augustin de Coulomb in 1785, who published it so that it is now known with his name.[4] Due to the difficulty of generating the high voltages they required, electrostatic motors were never used for practical purposes.

What is the purpose of an electric motor?

An electric motor is a motor that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the magnetic field of the motor and the current in the windings to produce a force in the form of a torque applied to the motor shaft. Generators are mechanically identical to electric motors, but flow with reverse power to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.

electric motors can be powered by a direct current (DC) power source, such as from a battery or rectifier, or by an alternating current (AC) power source, such as a grid, inverter, or generator.

What is the classification of electric motors?

electric motors can be classified according to the type of power source, construction, application and type of motion output. They can be AC or DC powered, brushed or brushless, single-, two- or three-phase, axial or radial flux, and can be air-cooled or liquid-cooled.

Standardized motors provide convenient mechanical power for industrial applications. The largest are used for marine propulsion, pipeline compression and pumped storage applications with outputs in excess of 100 megawatts.

What are the applications for electric motors?

Applications include industrial fans, blowers and pumps, machine tools, household appliances, power tools, vehicles and disk drives. Small motors can be found in electronic watches. In some applications, such as regenerative braking with a traction motor, the motor can be used in reverse as a generator to recover energy that may be lost in the form of heat and friction.

electric motors generate linear or rotational forces (torque) designed to propel certain external mechanisms, such as fans or elevators. electric motors are usually designed to rotate continuously, or to move linearly over a considerable distance compared to their size. Electromagnetic solenoids are also sensors that convert electrical energy into mechanical motion, but can only produce motion over a limited distance.

Hangzhou New Hengli Electric Machine MFG. Co., Ltd. was founded in 1954. Over 68 years of manufacturing experience in kinds of DC & AC Motors built up the customer-centered product development methodology and do under the special requirements of customers.
